is only thirty five minutes by rail from London and just a short drive
from the M25 but it has maintained its individual character. Its rural

The
Borough of Guildford is located in Surrey approximately 30 miles South
West of London. The population of the Borough is approximately 125,000
over an area of 104 square miles. Half of the people live in the county
town of Guildford which carries a considerable amount of history. Guildford
is within the North Downs, which are a designated area of outstanding
beauty.
Guildford
town centre is a conservation area, the core of which is formed by its
famous granite-set High Street (not "cobbled", as is popularly believed)
and a large number of important listed buildings. Near the centre of the
town is a modern Cathedral and the University of Surrey.
Even
though Guildford is close to London it still manages to have its own beautiful
countryside. Around Guildford there are several nature trails and walks
which cut into the North Downs and some of the surrounding villages.
